2002 Shimano WH-R540 wheelset clincher 16 spoke 700c Shimano hubs road

Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Shimano WH-R540 wheel set on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The wheel set is from an independent bicycle store’s inventory of demonstration wheels. The wheels were used by customers for testing out bikes for fit and feel. They are being sold because the IDB no longer needs them. The wheels feature Shimano rims, Shimano hubs, 16 spoke count, 28 mm rim depth, 19 mm rim width, lateral cross over spoke lacing and Shimano durability. The wheel set as shown weighs 4 pound 2 ounces (1.9 kg). The wheel set is in good condition. The wheels are clean and ready to ride. The hubs spin smoothly and freely. The spokes are tight and straight. The rims are round. The wheels are true and show less than 0.5 mm variation when placed in a truing stand. There are no dents or bends in the rims. There are no notches on the free hub body. There are no cracks in the hub shell. There are no cracks in the flanges of the hub. There is no corrosion on the nipples or on the hubs. There is no play in the hubs. The rim tape is not damaged. 

Frame and Wheel notes the following. There are four 2 mm x 5 mm abrasions on the flanges of the rear hub. There are 2 mm x 3 mm abrasions on the outside surface of all 8 of the drive side spokes. There are two 1 mm x 8 mm scratches on the rear rim.  There are collections of 2 mm scratches on the front rim. The stickers on the rear rim are peeling and show wear. The free hub body shows wear from the installation and removal of a cassette. The braking surfaces of the rims show wear. A very durable set of wheels that are perfect for off season road training.
