2005 Guru Crono 53cm carbon time trial Dura-Ace 7800 HED Corsair bar Ciamillo brakes Zipp 808 10-spd triathlon
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2005 Guru Crono time trial bicycle on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The frame was purchased new directly from Guru in 2009 under a crash replacement program. It was built up with components from the original bike except for the base bar and extensions which were added in 2010. The bike as shown was raced in about ten time trials in California in 2010. It was used primarily on an indoor trainer in 2011. It has never been crashed and it has had only one owner. It has always been stored indoors and professionally maintained. The Zipp 808 wheel set was purchased new at Cyclemania in Portland, Maine in 2007. The owner is selling the bike because he is upgrading to a new time trial bike and he is switching from tubular wheels to carbon clinchers.
The bicycle features Shimano Dura-Ace 7800 10-speed derailleurs, crank set, bottom bracket, cassette and bar end shifters; HED Corsair dropped carbon base bar and S-bend extensions, Ciamillo Zero Gravity brakes, Apollo Components Tri-1 saddle, FSA OS150 stem, 54T Dura-Ace outside chain ring, Cane Creek head set and new white Lizard Skin bar tape. The frame set features Alpha Q GS 20 front fork and Guru aero seat post. The frame features aero ovalized down tube and top tube, aero seat tube, oversized bottom bracket, internal cabling, braze-on front derailleur, replaceable rear derailleur hanger, integrated headset and seat binder, semi-vertical drop outs and custom black on white paint finish. The serial number on the frame reads 501021. The serial number on the fork reads C166093. The bicycle as shown weighs 16 pounds 2 ounces (7.4 kg). The owner is 6 feet tall with an inseam of about 32 to 34 inches. New extra arm rest pads included. No pedals included. There are 190 detailed images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please visit the Frame and Wheel website for more information about the service and the company.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Guru Crono will make an excellent choice for the dedicated triathlete or road cyclist who seeks to upgrade to something that will seriously improve his or her times in the race against the clock. The bike is remarkably light for a time trial bike, the Zipp 808 wheels are fast and versatile and the bike is set up with time trial specific gearing. This Crono has a voice that speaks only of speed and this will inspire the new owner to achieve new levels of performance. A rare and excellent opportunity to obtain a very well appointed time trial frame at an excellent valuation.

Sold: $255 Buyer: Sweden
Vintage 1992 Bridgestone RB-2 59cm steel Shimano 400 Exage 7-speed Araya wheels Sora shifters road
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 1992 Bridgestone RB-2 steel road bicycle on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The owner used this bicycle occasionally. The owner upgraded the down tube shifting with Shimano Sora dual control levers a few years ago.  It has spent most its life in storage. The owner traded the bike towards a new bike at Kennebunkport Bicycle Company earlier this year. This RB-2 features Ishiwata CroMo triple butted steel tubing, Shimano Exage 400 EX front and rear derailleurs and hubs, Shimano Sora ST-3300 dual control levers, Sugino cranks and handlebars, Dia-Compe Blaze brakes, MKS Sylvan alloy pedals, Avocet Racing seat, Araya wheels, prism blue and tusk white finish and Bridgestone cool. The serial number on the bottom bracket shell reads X123032. The serial number on the underside of the down tube reads 510911. The serial number on the front fork reads X1B. The bicycle as shown weighs 24 pounds 4 ounces (11.0 kg). There are 130 detailed images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please visit the Frame and Wheel website for more information about the service and the company.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is precise and complete in all fourteen gears. The brakes activate easily and grip well and there is about 5 mm of pad remaining on the brake pad wear indicator. The cable housing is not cracked. There is no play in the bottom bracket. The wheels spin freely and smoothly and the spokes are straight and tight. The side walls of the tires are not cracked. The tires hold pressure. There are no bends, bulges or dents in the frame or the fork. There is no road wear on the bottom of the down tube or on the the back of the seat tube. The rear triangle is in alignment with centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is securely clamped to the seat tube and undamaged. There is no wear under the front fork crown. The steer tube does not show any cracks or bulges. The crown race is secured firmly. There is no corrosion in the head set races, the head set bearings, the steer tube, the seat post or in the water bottle cage bolt holes. The chain does not read 0.75 or 1.0 on the chain wear tool.
Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 10 mm x 10 mm scratch in the N in Bridgestone on the dive side down tube. There is a 1 mm x 1 mm scratch in the B in RB-2 on the non drive side top tube. There is a 1 mm x 80 mm scratch on the drive side seat stay. There is a 5 mm x 5 mm scratch on the drive side down tube near the shifting boss. There is a 5 mm x 60 mm area of scratches on drive side chain stay from a dropped chain. There is discoloration in the chain stay chain guard. There is wear around the drop outs. There is wear on the inside surfaces of the chain stays. The handlebar tape shows wear. Some of the stickers show wear. The rear wheel has a mild wobble and will benefit from adjustments to the spokes.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Bridgestone RB-2 will make a fine choice for the cyclist who seeks the smooth ride of a classic steel road bike and the practical benefits of index shifting. The classic bike purist might consider restoring down tube shifting to the bike to capture the original feel of the ride and look of the bike. This RB-2 is in very good condition and it still has many hours of comfortable riding in its steel tubes. The new owner will relish the retro-cool of this unique bicycle and the valuation at which it was obtained.
