Sold: $2,315  Buyer: United Kingdom
006 Parlee Z3C 55cm ML carbon compact frame Reynolds fork Chris King headset nude
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2006 Parlee Z3C 55cm ML frame and fork on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The frame and the fork was purchased new directly from Parlee Cycles in the Spring of 2006 and in the presence of the man himself. It was built up and used primarily for fair weather training and recreation. It has never been crashed and it has always been stored inside finished space and transported inside a car. It was maintained by the owner. The owner is a masters category cyclist and he is selling the bicycle because he is upgrading to a new bike and would like to clear out some of the cycling equipment in his basement. The frame features a Reynolds carbon fork, a Chris King NoThreadSet headset, a Parlee adjustable carbon front front derailleur hanger “belt”, carbon woven lugs, carbon cable stops, titanium rear drop outs, wishbone seat stays and Parlee “Made in the USA” provenance. The frame and fork as shown weighs 3 pounds 7 ounces (1.57 kg). The serial number reads PCZ06C35053. The owner is 5 feet 10 inches with an inseam of about 33 inches. Seat post not included. There are over 80 images of the frame set here.  Please follow Frame and Wheel Auction Services link for more information about the service and other listings.
Review of condition
The frame and fork is in very good condition. It is clean and ready for build. There are no cracks, bulges, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame or the fork. The rear drop outs are in alignment with the the centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. It shows only light signs of wear on the back of the seat tube, the bottom of the down tube and inside the chain stays. The carbon cable stops are undamaged and clear of obstructions. The barrel adjusters work properly and are not missing any parts. The headset cartridge bearings move smoothly and quietly and are securely mounted in the cups. The steer tube is not cracked or flaking. The front fork has safety tabs. The race is mounted securely on the front fork and the headset is complete. There is no corrosion in the bottom bracket, on the crown race or in the water bottle bolts. Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 2 x 5 mm chip on the underside of the down tube. There are series of blemishes about 2 x 2 mm in size on the top side of the drive side chain stay. There is wear on the seat tube from the front derailleur clamp. There is wear along the edges of the bottom bracket shell. There is wear on the front and rear drop outs. Frame and Wheel notes that the top cover of the head set is very snug on the carbon steer tube.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this is a lightly used and well maintained frame set that still has many hours of training and racing remaining in its carbon fiber tubes and posts. It will make a fine and practical choice for the dedicated cyclist who wants to upgrade to something very light in a compact geometry. The frame is a clean slate and the new owner will have great fun building it up to meet his or her exact specifications and preferences. For example, with a set of carbon tubular wheels and a SRAM Red group set, this Z3C will be among the the lightest bikes on the road and could be a candidate for Parlee’s Facebook Wall. Regardless of the build, the resulting bicycle will have a beautiful and mature voice and will smack of great value, which will be an inspiration to the new owner and a point of pride for Mr. Parlee.

Frame and Wheel believes that the wheel represents a happy and practical compromise between the 58 mm Zipp 404 and the 108 mm Zipp 1080 and notes that this wheel can be made to go as fast if not faster than its more glamorous Zipp Firecrest cousins. The new owner will relish the hushed roar of the wheel slicing through the air and notice the improved performance. 2008 Colnago Extreme Power 58cm Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed DT Swiss RR 1.1 clincher wheel TWBK carbon white

Sold: $1,957 Buyer: Canada
2008 Colnago Extreme Power 58cm Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed DT Swiss RR 1.1 clincher wheel TWBK
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2008 Colnago Extreme Power road bicycle built up with Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed components and DT Swiss RR 1.1 wheels on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The bicycle was purchased new at Pista Palace in San Diego in 2008. It was used for racing and training in California and New England for two years. In 2010, the owner was involved in a crash that resulted in damage to the  top tube and the rear derailleur body. The frame was sent back to Colnago in Italy for inspection. Colnago determined that the damage to the top tube was superficial and concluded that the frame was structurally sound. Colnago repainted the abrasion on the top tube. Seven months later, the frame was returned to the owner and built back up. The bicycle was used for training and racing in 2011. The owner is selling the bicycle because he is upgrading to electronic shifting and he is not satisfied with the amount of time it took for Colnago to make a conclusion about the frame and to repaint it. The current owner is a masters category cyclist and the only owner. The bicycle has been professionally maintained by Cyclemania in Portland Maine and was recently tuned up. It has always been stored indoors.
The bicycle features Campagnolo Super Record 11 speed group set, DT Swiss RR 1.1 alloy clincher wheel set with custom white bladed spokes (Campagnolo free hub body), DT Swiss skewers, Bontrager XXX Lite VR handlebars, Deda Zero 100 alloy stem, Specialized Toupe Pro seat, KMC X11SL-TI eleven speed “gold” chain, Garmin Edge 705 road computer mount and chain stay sensor and Lizard Skin handle bar tape. The frame set features Colnago Carbon 75 front fork, Colnago carbon seat post, Colnago head set and TWBK white on black finish. The frame features carbon lugs, oversized tubing, over sized “leaf shaped” chain stays, replaceable rear derailleur hanger, riveted front derailleur hanger for braze-on front derailleur, alloy drop outs, double water bottle cage mount and 70 mm Italian bottom bracket. The bicycle as shown weighs 15 pounds and 2 ounces (9.6 kg). The serial number on the inside of the left rear drop out reads PW6 549. The owner is 6 feet tall with an inseam of about 32 to 34 inches. Pedals not included. Water bottle cages not included. There are 120 detailed images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel Auction Services Please take a look to obtain a better understanding of the bicycle’s condition.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition and shows only light signs of wear. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is smooth and complete in all twenty-two gears. The brakes activate easily and grip well. The wheels are true and round and the hubs spin freely and smoothly. There is no lateral play in the hubs. The spokes are straight and tight. The tires hold pressure. The tire treads are not heavily worn and the side walls are not cracked.
There are no cracks, bulges or flaking in the finish of the frame or any faults that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. The front and rear forks are in alignment with the centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is riveted securely to the seat tube and undamaged. There is no play in the bottom bracket. There is no corrosion in the bolts on the stem, the seat post or in the water bottle cage bolt holes. The chain does not read 1.0 on the chain wear tool.
Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is an 8 x 5 mm chip on the center leaf of the Colnago clover on the head tube. There are two 8 x 5 mm chips on the top of the drive-side bottom bracket shell from a dropped chain. There is a 2 x 15 mm abrasion on the drive side chain stay. There is a 2 x 130 mm abrasion on the top of the top tube near the Extreme Power lettering. There is a 5 x 50 mm abrasion on the bottom of the top tube near the Extreme Power lettering. There is a 5 x 25 mm abrasion on the tip of the right hand dual control shift lever. There is a 10 x 30 mm abrasion on the body of the rear derailleur. There is a 5 x 15 mm tear on the bar tape on the end of the right side handle bar drop. There is a 5 x 10 mm abrasion on the drive side edge of the seat. There is wear around the rear and front drop outs. The front and rear brake pad replacement indicators show about 2 mm or less of pad remaining. There is wear on the head tube from the brake cables. There is wear on the seat tube lug from the rear brake cable. there is wear on the seat post from the front derailleur cable. The cable housing around the handle bars shows wear. There is wear on the non drive-side chain stay from a road computer sensor. There is wear on the stem. There are scratches on the seat post from installation and removal and from a seat bag. The chain reads 0.75 on the chain wear tool. The white finish on the braking surface of the rims has worn off. The braking surfaces of the rims show wear. There are scratches on three spokes on the front wheel.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this a very nice and light road racing frame for the performance cyclist who seeks the stiffness and style of Colnago’s traditional carbon road frames and who appreciates the precision and performance of Campagnolo Super Record eleven speed components. The bicycle is in very good condition, but it has been loved, and thus shows signs of having been ridden and raced frequently and intensively. Frame and Wheel believes that the bicycle has many more hours of racing and riding remaining in its carbon fiber body and soul. The  DT Swiss RR 1.1 wheels are excellent for training and nicely complement the TWBK finish of the frame. The bicycle has a bright future as a primary racing bike, but could also do very well as a training or travel bicycle. The new owner will relish the ride and the classic Italian voice of this bicycle as well as the excellent valuation at which it was obtained.
