Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Pashley Tube Rider bicycle on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The bicycle was purchased new at Portland Velocipede in 2012. It was used for short fair weather rides. It has been in storage. It has never been crashed. The owner is selling the bicycle because it is no longer being used. The bicycle is one of two Pashley Tube Riders in the Pintail finish exported to the United States. The bicycle features cro-moly construction, distinctive duplex-tube frame, lugged front fork, quick release seat post, Sturmey Archer X-RD5 (W) five speed rear hub, Sturmey Archer X-FD front hub, Sturmey Archer TSS55 R5 twist shifter, front and rear drum brakes, Sturmey Archer cranks (44T with 170 mm crank arms), Brooks B67 leather seat, aluminum alloy handle bars on semi rise stem, Wellgo alloy pedals, chain guard, front and rear fenders, front and rear reflectors, 26 inch wheels with Schwalbe 26 inch x 1.9 inch Marathon tires, braze-ons for rear carrier and water bottle cage, Pintail finish (turquoise and orange) and English cycling provenance. One size fits riders with inseam between 28 inches to 34 inches (71 cm to 86 cm). The bicycle as shown weighs 36 pounds (16.4 kg). Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. It shifts properly in all five gears. The front and rear drum brakes work properly. The cable housing is not cracked. There is no corrosion on the shifting mechanism. The wheels are true. The spokes are tight. The tires hold pressure. The treads on the tires are fresh. There are no dents, bends, bulges or cracks that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. There is no road wear on the back of the seat tube, on the chain stays or the seat stays. There is no corrosion on the frame. There is no play in the bottom bracket. The chain guard is mounted properly and it is undamaged. The fenders are mounted properly and do not rub against the tires. There are no dents, bends, bulges or cracks that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the front fork. There is no play in the head set. The handle bar grips are not damaged and are attached securely. The brake levers are not scratched or damaged. The seat springs are not corroded. The leather seat is not worn. The bell works properly. Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 2 mm x 5 mm blemish on the drive side top tube near the Tube Rider lettering. There are two 3 mm x 25 mm abrasions on the left handle bar arm. There is a 2 mm x 9 mm abrasion on the Pashley head badge obscuring the word “England”. There is wear on the outside surface of the drive side and non drive side crank arms. There is wear on the right hand brake lever mount. The pedals show surface wear. The seat post shows wear from adjustment.

Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Pashley Tube Rider Pintail will make an excellent choice for the rider who seeks a comfortable and stylish bicycle for short range trips to the center of town. The bicycle is in very good condition and shows immaterial sign of wear. The new owner of this bicycle will relish the smooth ride and beautiful lines of this Tube Rider and will attract many compliments on the way to and from the Saturday morning farmer’s market. The Pashley Tube Rider is no longer in production and this particular Tube Rider is one of two in the Pintail finish exported to the United States. Pashley Cycles is owned by the Alex Moulton Bicycle Company and thus this Tube Rider has a distinctive voice that speaks of the rich history of English cycling. A rare and excellent opportunity to obtain a one of a kind modern day classic.
