2010 HED H3 650 carbon alloy clincher wheelset triathlon Shimano 9/10 speed trispoke
Frame and Wheel is auctioning an HED H3 650 wheel set on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The wheels were purchased new in 2011. They were used for one race. They have been in storage in wheel bags since then. The wheels have never been crashed. They have had only one owner. The owner is selling the wheels because he no longer needs them. The wheels features aluminum alloy clincher rims, 50 mm rim depth, 19 mm rim width, HED hubs, HED titanium skewers, nude carbon finish, distinctive HED H3 “trispoke” design and “Made in the USA” provenance. The wheels as shown weighs 4 pounds 3 ounces (1.9 kg). The serial numbers read 0910-004 (F) and 0910-005 (R). Mavic wheel bags, Michelin Pro Race 3 tires (650 x 23) and spare tubes included. Ships in custom wheel boxes. There are 40 images of the wheel set at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please take a look.

Review of condition
The wheels are in very good condition. They are clean and ready to ride. The hubs spin smoothly and freely. The rims are round and true. There is no lateral or vertical variation in the rims when placed in a truing stand. There are no dents in the rims. There are no cracks, flexing, flaking or discoloration in the carbon spokes. There are no cracks, flexing, flaking or discoloration in the carbon shells. The aluminum alloy rims are fixed securely to the carbon shells. The valve openings are undamaged and unobstructed. There is no play in the hubs. There is no corrosion on the hubs. There is no corrosion on the rims. The skewers are straight and undamaged. There is no corrosion on the skewers. The stickers are not peeling off. Frame and Wheel notes the following. The carbon tape around the base of the front hub has peeled back about 4 mm. The braking surfaces of the rims show wear.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this HED H3 650 wheel set will make an excellent choice for the smaller road cyclist or triathlete who seeks an aerodynamic wheel set for a time trial bike and who is satisfied with 10-speed Shimano gearing (the existing free hub cannot be upgraded to Shimano 11-speed). The wheels are lightly used and in very good condition and show immaterial signs of wear. The wheels will dramatically change the voice of any time trial bike and deliver an immediate speed and weight advantage. The new owner will derive deep satisfaction from the sound these wheels make as they cut through the wind with the oversized bladed spokes, and will be inspired to push the limits even further in the Race of Truth. A rare and excellent opportunity to obtain an effectively new set of one of the finest aero wheels on the market today.
