Frame and Wheel 2012 annual report

Fred Thomas
President
Frame and Wheel, Inc.

Dear Frame and Wheel customers,

I am pleased to report that 2012 has been another year of growth for Frame and Wheel. Rated transactions increased 300 percent to 553 transactions. The feedback score was unchanged at 100% positive with many customers describing Frame and Wheel as “the best on ebay”,  an “expert seller” and "trustworthy and honest". Domestic and international demand for bicycles, frame sets, wheels and components remained strong due to the consumer’s growing confidence with shopping on-line, eBay's safe and regulated marketplace and its promise of excellent value. The order book was full all year as a result of word of mouth recommendations about the service and references from independent bicycle dealers.

Meanwhile, the relaunch of the Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 frame sets was a success with inventory being sold out to international and out of state domestic buyers. I raced an Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 to victory at the Tour of the Catskills and Quabbin Road Race Classic and rode an Austro-Daimler tt Carbon to win the Maine Time Trial Series. Paul Weiss rode an Austro-Daimler Ubercross through out New England. Landmark transactions for the year include the sale of a 1984 Alex Mouton AM7 for the Community Bicycle Center to a buyer in Japan, the sale and shipping of an eighty pound Ultramotor A2B electric bike to a buyer in New Jersey, and the sale and shipping of Racermate Computrainer training system to a buyer in Virginia.

Frame and Wheel continues to differentiate itself from the competition by originating accurate and comprehensive descriptions, producing compelling and relevant images, shipping quickly, and providing professional and human customer service. Frame and Wheel also uses newly manufactured custom made boxes for shipping high value frame sets and wheels. Frame and Wheel continues to use social media to promote the service and the auctions. At the end of 2012, Frame and Wheel had 5,300 “likes” on its Frame and Wheel Facebook page and 29 followers on its Twitter feed.

Frame and Wheel has become more efficient at originating listings and packing items and was able to shorten its turnaround time significantly this year. Consequently, Frame and Wheel is pleased to announce that it will be able to lower its commission to 15 percent from 20 percent previously effective 1 January 2013. Additionally, Frame and Wheel will offer a factoring service to customers who seek to liquidate quickly items in bulk. Frame and Wheel will also offer a “Buyer of Last Resort” service for items that do not sell at auction. Please see the “For Sellers” section for more information about these programs.

Frame and Wheel will be launching the champagne version of the Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 Carbon and the Austro-Daimler tt Carbon soon. An Austro-Daimler Ubercross Carbon Disc cyclocross frame set is set for introduction in late 2013. The market remembers the brand and interest is strong. Frame and Wheel will continue to promote its services and products through racing and training, face to face contact with customers, email marketing and social media. Thank you to buyers and sellers who have used the service and I look forward to working with you in 2013.

Sincerely,

Fred Thomas
