2010 Specialized Amira Comp 48cm carbon SRAM Force compact Mavic Kysrium Elite women
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Specialized Amira Comp women specific road bike on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The bicycle was purchased new at Exeter Cycles in New Hampshire in 2011. The owner’s spouse (a bike mechanic) switched out the stock Shimano 105 group set and the Mavic Aksium wheels and replaced them with a SRAM Force group set and Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels. It was used for recreational riding in 2011. It has less than 200 miles of use. It has been stored in a garage for 2012. It has had only one owner. It has never been crashed. The owner is selling the bicycle because she no longer has the time to ride it. The frame set features a women specific (shorter) top tube, tapered head tube (1 1/8 inch to 1 3/8 inch), a full carbon Specialized front fork, oversized down tube, chains stay and bottom bracket, and appealing burgundy red finish. The bicycle features SRAM Force group set, compact gearing, Mavic Ksyrium Elite wheels (2007 estimated model year), Specialized women specific Pro alloy handlebars and Specialized women specific Jett Expert seat. The bicycle as shown weighs 16 pounds 10 ounces (7.6 kg). The serial number on the bottom of the down tube reads STAM29E0392. The serial number on the steer tube reads K379K0277. The owner is 5 feet 2 inches tall with an inseam of about 29 inches. No pedals included. No water bottle cage bolts included. There are 160 detailed images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please take a look.

Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is precise and complete in all twenty gears. The brakes activate easily and grip well. There is 5 mm of pad remaining on the wear indicators. The cable housing and cables are fresh. The wheels are true and round and they spin freely and smoothly. There are no dents or cracks in the rim or the wall of the wheels. The spokes are straight and tight. There is no corrosion on the spokes. The hub flanges are not cracked. The tire treads are fresh and the tires hold pressure.

There is no cracking, discoloration, bulging, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. There is no road wear on the bottom of the down tube, the back of the seat tube under the fork crown or the under the rear brake bridge. The rear triangle is in alignment with centerline of the frame. The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is riveted securely and undamaged. There is no cracking, discoloration, bulging, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the front fork. The steer tube does not show any cracks or bulges. The crown race is secured firmly. The head set is complete and the cartridge bearings turn smoothly. There is no play in the bottom bracket. There is no corrosion in the bolts on the expander bolt, the seat post or in the water bottle cage bolt holes. The cable stops are riveted securely and undamaged and free of obstructions. The handlebars are not bent and the bar tape is undamaged and secure. There are no rips or abrasions on the seat. The chain does not read 0.75 or 1.0 on the chain wear tool.

Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 1 mm x 10 mm scratch on at the bottom of the down tube near the bottom bracket. There are 3 mm x 20 mm abrasions on the sides of the head tube from the cable housing. There are abrasions around the water bottle cage mounts from a cage. There is wear on the rear drop outs. The end of the chain stay protector is wrinkled. The inside of the chain stays show light wear. There are smudges on the bar tape. The braking surfaces of the rims show wear. There are scratches on the Mavic stickers. The rear wheel shows variance of less than 1 mm in the truing stand.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Specialized Amira Comp will make an excellent choice for the dedicated female cyclist who wants to upgrade to a women specific performance road bicycle. It will also suit a junior female cyclist who is ready to upgrade from her mother’s clunky hybrid to something that will allow her to drop her father and inspire her to start thinking about the Olympics in 2028. This Specialized Amira shows immaterial signs of wear and is effectively a new bicycle with many hours of enthusiastic riding or serious training and racing remaining in its carbon tubes, SRAM Force group set and Mavic Ksyrium wheels. Set up with deep dish carbon tubulars, this Amira will be light and fast, and it will have a racing voice equivalent to its male cousin, the Specialized Tarmac. Either way, the new owner will appreciate the performance features of this bicycle, its beautiful wine-red finish and the valuation at which it was obtained. A very specialized opportunity indeed.
