2006 Kuota K Factor carbon time trial frame set small black
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2006 Kuota K Factor time trial frame set on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The frame set was purchased new at Fit Werx in 2006. It was raced in triathlons in 2007. It was involved in a slow speed crash during that year, but it was not damaged. The frame set has been in storage at Fit Werx in Massachusetts ever since. The owner is a Fit Werx employee and is the only owner of this frame set. He is selling the frame because he has another time trial bicycle and he no longer uses this one. The frame set has always been stored indoors and serviced at Fit Werx. The owner is about 5 feet 7 inches with an inseam of 84 cm. The frame set is Kuota’s entry-level offering and features an aero front fork, aero seat stays, cut away seat tube, horizontal rear alloy drop outs, s-bend chain stays and 12K carbon weave monocoque construction. The frame set as shown weighs 2.03 kg (4 pounds 8 ounces). The serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell reads RL-25 02909. The serial number on the front fork reads 01191. There are over 100 images of the item at Frame and Wheel Auction Services Please take a look. The item is being sold as is.
Review of condition
The frameset is in good condition. It is clean and there are no cracks, bulges, or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. There is no wear on the bottom of the down tube, on the back of the seat tube or on the insides of the chain stays. There is no corrosion in the seat post and water bottle bolts or bolt holes. The front and rear forks are in alignment with the the centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is screwed securely to the seat post and undamaged. The threads of the bottom bracket have no corrosion and are not stripped. The headset cartridge bearings move smoothly and quietly. The front fork has safety tabs. The race is mounted securely on the front fork and the headset is complete.
Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 5 x 15 mm chip in the top front side of the steer tube. There is a 7 x 5 mm abrasion on the top side of the down tube near the intersection with the head tube. There is a 6 x 5 mm abrasion on the bottom side of the top tube near the intersection with the head tube. There is a 3 x 5 mm blemish on the non-drive side top tube near the intersection with the seat tube. There is a 7 x 5 mm blemish on the top side of the top tube near the intersection with the seat tube. There is a 10 x 10 mm area of light scratches on the top side of the top tube near the intersection with the seat tube. There is a light scratch 80 mm in length around the down tube water bottle bolts. There are three abrasions of about 2 x 5 mm in size on the top side of the down tube near the intersection with the seat tube. There are imperfections in the finish on the top side of the down tube near the intersection with the head tube and on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell. There is corrosion in the barrel adjusters. The drop outs show wear. There is wear around the rear brake bolt hole. There is grit in the seat stays that can be heard when the frame is shaken.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this frame set is an excellent choice for the entry-level triathlete or for the road cyclist who needs to have a time trial bicycle on hand for the occasional stage race or local time trial series. It is in good condition and it has many hours of use remaining in it. The new owner of this frame set will obtain excellent value and have plenty of budget left over for other accessories such as wheels or carbon base bars and extensions. There may be a quota on how many bicycles are imported into Europe each year, but there is no quota on how much satisfaction the new owner will derive from building up and riding this frame set. Perhaps that what the originators of the brand are getting at.
