Sold: $4,500
2009 Time RXR Ulteam Campy Super Record 11-Spd Easton EC90 tubulars CycleOps Wireless Power Tap SL+
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2009 Time RXR Ulteam carbon frame set size large built up with Campagnolo Super Record 11-speed and Easton EC90 carbon tubular aero wheels on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The bicycle was purchased new in early 2009 at Pista Palace in San Diego. It has three seasons of racing (ten criteriums and one road race) and training in California and New England. It has been used lightly in 2011. It has never been involved in a crash during a race or a ride. The finish on the right front fork blade was damaged when the owner was forced into a guard rail by a car in March 2010. Time confirmed that there was no structural damage to the front fork. The owner had the fork repainted at Calfee Design. The damage from this incident is not visible even upon close inspection. The owner is 6 feet tall and about 175 pounds.
The bicycle has always been stored in doors and transported inside a car. It has been professionally and meticulously maintained at Cyclemania in Portland, Maine. It was tuned up at the beginning of 2011. The current owner is the only owner of this bicycle. He is selling it because he would like to consolidate resources towards the operation of another high performance racing bicycle. The bicycle features Campagnolo Super Record 11-Speed component group, Easton EC90 carbon tubular aero wheels with a CycleOps Wireless Power Tap SL+ hub, Specialized Toupe Ti143 saddle, carbon Time Monolink Ulteam stem, Time Ergoforce carbon bars with Lizard Skin tape and Time water bottle cages. The frame features integrated aero seat tube, QUICKSET headset that allows the head set to be adjusted independently of stem adjustments, adjustable alloy front derailleur hanger for compact and standard cranks, asymmetrical chain stays, full carbon tubes, lugs and bottom bracket shell, full carbon front fork with tapered steer tube, carbon seat cradle, and distinctive white/red black finish.
The bicycle as shown weighs 15 pounds 6 ounces. The serial number on the inside of the non-drive seat stay is illegible. The serial number on the front fork reads 0646173. Continental Sprinters are new in 2011 and the Campagnolo Record 11 chain has only three months of use. The batteries in the CycleOps hub are new. A magnet for a sensor is included. No pedals included. There are over 150 images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel eBay Selling Services and on Facebook at Frame and Wheel. Please take a look. The bicycle is being sold as is.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition and shows only light wear. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is smooth and complete in all twenty-two gears. The brakes work fine and there is about 3 mm of pad left on the brake pad wear indicators. The wheels are true and round and the hubs spin freely and smoothly. There is no lateral play in the hubs. The spokes are straight and tight. The braking surfaces show light wear. The tires hold pressure and are glued on firmly and neatly.
There are no cracks, bulges or flaking in the finish of the frame or any faults that raise questions about the structural integrity of the frame. The front and rear forks are in alignment with the the centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is securely attached to the seat tube and undamaged. There is no play in the bottom bracket. There is no corrosion in the bolts on the stem, the seat post or the water bottle cage mounts. The chain does not read 0.75 or 1.0 on the chain wear tool.
Frame and Wheel notes the following: there is a 1 x 20 mm chip on the top of the drive side bottom bracket shell and three 2 x 3 mm chips on the bottom of the drive side down tube from a dropped chain. There is a 3 x 4 mm chip on the front of the head tube (near the T in Time). There is a 1 x 35 mm abrasion on the edge of drive side top tube. There are four 1 x 1 mm chips in the finish on the bottom of the down tube. There is a 1 x 1 mm chip on the leading edge of the non drive side seat stay.
There is a 5 mm crack in the cable housing for the rear derailleur. There are abrasions at the top of the integrated seat tube and on the seat post clamp from a saddle bag. There are abrasions on the non drive chain stay from a sensor. There are abrasions on the back of the seat tube in the cut away section from road grit. There is wear on the back of the seat tube under the front derailleur cable. There is a 2 x 20 mm abrasion  on the right rear edge of the saddle and a 2 x 5 mm abrasion on the left rear edge of the saddle. There is wear on the frame guards and the cable housing where the two rub against each other. There is wear under the crown of front fork. There is wear around the rear drop outs. Some of the lettering on the rear brake caliper has rubbed off. The finish on the teeth of the chain rings has worn off. The handle bar tape has lost some of its whiteness along the tops.
There is 4 x 20 mm chip and a 1 x 5 mm scratch on the side of the front rim near the valve extender. There is a 1 x 35 mm abrasion on the drive side of the rear rim. There is a 5 x 15 mm scratch on the flange of the front skewer. There are two 1 x 3 mm nicks on the tread of the rear tire. There is 1 x 3 mm nick in the tread of the front tire. Frame and Wheel carefully inspected this frame, but cannot guarantee that every imperfection has been spotted.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
This is a very nice and distinctive high performance road bicycle that is built to professional level standards. It is in very good condition and it still has many hours of use remaining in it. It will suit the taller rider who is serious about racing and training and who is comfortable with Campagnolo Super Record components and tubular wheel sets. The wireless CycleOps Power Tap SL + is an attractive feature and that will allow the new owner to outfit the bicycle with a variety of power and GPS devices. The new owner of this bicycle will be signaling to competitors, training partners and him or herself a serious commitment to the sport. The new owner will also take deep satisfaction in knowing that the bicycle has been obtained at a price that represents excellent value. This will provide a deep pool of inspiration for the new owner to get out and ride this bicycle fast and frequently. Now is the Time.

Reserve price is a premium to book value
Frame and Wheel estimates that the cost of purchasing this bicycle new today is about $10,000. Frame and Wheel believes that high performance road bicycles lose about  25% of their value each year. This implies that the book value of this bicycle is about $4,200. Frame and Wheel believes that the bike deserves a premium to the book value for the following reasons:
  • It is in in very good condition and ready to ride.
  • It has been professionally and meticulously maintained.
  • It has not been ridden very hard.
  • Campagnolo Super Record 11-Speed component group is excellent quality.
  • Easton EC90 tubular wheel set is light, aero and built up with a CycleOps Wireless Power Tap.
  • The combination of frameset, components and wheels gives the bicycle a distinctive and impressive voice.
Frame and Wheel has set a reserve price that fairly reflects these factors and invites the market to begin bidding.

Important shipping details
The frame and the wheels are packaged in three separate boxes, but shipped as a single shipment. The shipping cost shown is only for the box that contains the frame. It does not include the wheel boxes (the eBay system cannot calculate shipping costs for two separate boxes). Frame and Wheel will invoice the winning bidder the correct shipping. It will likely be more than what is shown in the shipping calculator, but not by much. For example, to send the three boxes to Santa Monica from Maine costs $193.00 ($173.00 using Fed Ex Ground plus $20.00 Frame and Wheel product analysis and service). Frame and Wheel takes the trouble to carefully and properly package the bicycle and have it ready to go at the end of the auction.
Frame and Wheel encourages international buyers to open an account with freight forwarder Ship It To (USA Address & Mail Forwarding). This service will lower your shipping costs significantly. Otherwise, Frame and Wheel ships internationally using UPS Air Freight Consolidated. International buyers please contact Frame and Wheel with city and zip code. Please pay by Pay Pal and please pay promptly.
These are the dimensions of the boxes so that buyers can get a better sense of their shipping costs

CycleOps Pro 300T indoor trainer

Sold: $710
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2006 CycleOps Pro 300PT indoor trainer on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The trainer was purchased new at Cyclemania in Portland, Maine in 2006. The owner used the trainer for three years. It was shipped to Southern California and spent two years in storage on an outdoor balcony there and was used occasionally during that time (understandably). It was shipped from California to Maine in 2011 and it has spent most of the year in storage in a basement. The computer was replaced under warranty in 2010. The trainer features a Cycleops Power Tap (Version 1.1), adjustable resistance settings, adjustable seat post, handlebars and saddle, aero bars, arm rests, a sweat guard, a heart rate monitor strap, and a pair of wheels. The odometer reads 685 miles. The trainer weighs about 150 pounds. This trainer pedals like a fixed gear bicycle. There is no freewheel that allows the rider to coast. Software and seat not included. Pedals and toe straps included
Review of condition
The trainer is in good condition. It is clean, operable and fully assembled. The power tap computer shows watts, speed, distance and heart rate data. The resistance adjustment feature works properly. There is no play in the cranks. The chain does not skip. Frame and Wheel highlights the following: the rear wheel is not true. There is corrosion on the wheel and on the brakes. The rear brake cable is frayed.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view on this trainer is that it will make a good training device for a cyclist who wants to train with power and who has the space for something of this size. Although the rear wheel is out of true, it does not affect the operation of the trainer: the user is still able to set and control the resistance level. This trainer is not easy to move , it can be complicated to adjust the resistance mechanism and the fixed gear set up takes some getting used to. Nevertheless, the new owner will be able to obtain an excellent work out on this machine, once it is finally in place.

There are over 100 images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel eBay Selling Services and on Facebook at Frame and Wheel. Please take a look. The bicycle is being sold as is.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. This bicycle shows very few signs of wear. There are no dents, bends or large scratches in the frame. There is no wear on the bottom of the down tube, on the back of the seat tube or under the crown of the front fork. The front and rear forks are in alignment with the centerline of the frame and the rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The handlebars are not cracked or scratched. There is a 2 x 5 mm blemish in the letter A in the word SPECIALIZED on the drive-side downtube. There is a 2 x 10 mm abrasion on the drive-side edge of the saddle. There are some 2 x 2 mm scratches on the rim of the right front side of the rim. There are some small scratches on the rim of the rear wheel. The drop outs show wear. The finish on the teeth on the chain rings show wear.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Epic Marathon mountain bike is effectively a new bicycle with signs of wear that are immaterial and nit-picky. It is in very good condition and it works fine. It will suit the rider who seeks a performance full suspension mountain bike and who will be satisfied with the traditional twenty-six inch wheel size. Frame and Wheel highlights that this bicycle has had a very sheltered and protected life so far. It is fresh and hungry and it deserves to be turned loose on the single tracks of New Hampshire or the gravel trails of California. The new owner will be transformed by the passionate spirit of this bicycle, and will take deserved satisfaction in knowing that the bicycle was liberated at a price that represents epic value.

Reserve price is a premium to book value
Frame and Wheel is informed that the owner paid $3,400 for this bike in 2009. Frame and Wheel believes that high performance bicycles lose about 25% of their value each year wether or not they are used. This implies that the book value of this bicycle is about $1,000. Frame and Wheel believes that the bike deserves a premium to the book value for the following reasons:
  • Very good condition and ready to ride.
  • Immaterial and nit-picky signs of wear and effectively new condition.
  • Full suspension frame set with top end Shimano and SRAM components.
  • A very nice performance mountain bike that deserves to owned and ridden by a dedicated mountain bike rider.
Frame and Wheel has set a reserve price that fairly reflects these factors and invites the market to begin bidding.
