Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2010 Cervelo P4 on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The frame set was purchased new in 2010. It was used for triathlons. It has never been crashed. It was professionally maintained. The owner is selling it because it is no longer needed. The frame set features Cervelo carbon fork, Cervelo dual position seat post, integrated chain stay brake, integrated water bottle, horizontal rear drop outs, internal cabling and Cervelo fourth generation provenance. The frame set as shown weighs 5 pounds 4 ounce (2.4 kg). The frame serial number reads SNP4C09E00729. The front fork serial number reads CF343209M0238. Review of condition
The frame set is in very good condition. It is clean and ready for build. There is no road wear on the bottom of the down tube, on the chain stays, behind the seat tube or under the front fork crown. There are no cracks, bulges, discolorations, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. The rear triangle is in alignment with the the centerline of the frame. The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The chain stay cable stop is undamaged and clear of obstructions. The bottom bracket cable stop is not damaged and clear of obstructions. There are no obstructions in the shifting and brake cable openings on the top of the top tube. The rear axle position bolts work properly. There is no corrosion in the water bottle bolt holes. The carbon water bottle mount flanges are not damaged. The bottom bracket shell is not damaged. The threads in the bottom bracket are not stripped or corroded. The front derailleur hanger screws are not corroded. The metal plates in the down tube are not missing and the screw is not stripped or corroded. The chain stay mounted rear brake works properly. There is no corrosion in the springs or on the brake arms. There is 4 mm of pad remaining. No pieces of the brake are missing. The carbon brake cover is not damaged. There are no cracks, bulges, discoloration, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the front fork. The crown race is not damaged. The cartridge bearings are not corroded or damaged. The cartridge bearings turn smoothly and the head set is complete. There are no cracks, bulges, discoloration, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the seat post. The seat clamp works properly and it is complete. The chain stay protector is attached securely. Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 1 mm x 3 mm scratch on the non drive side down tube on the letter P in P4. There is a 4 mm x 10 mm abrasion on the non drive side chain stay on the letter D in Design. There is a 1 mm x 5 mm abrasion on the head tube above the é symbol. There is a 4 mm x 4 mm chip in the finish on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell. There is a 3 mm x 3 mm chip on the bottom of the top tube. There is a 2 mm x 2 mm chip near it. The rear drop outs show wear. A hole has been cut in the bottom of the water bottle to modify it into a food storage container.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Cervelo P4 will make an excellent choice for the dedicated triathlete who wants to upgrade to a high performance aero frame set. This P4 is in very good condition and shows immaterial signs of wear. Built up with SRAM red components, Zipp Vuka aero bars, a Zipp 900 / 808 wheel set, the frame set will become a very fast time trial bike with a unique voice that speaks of Cervelo’s relentless determination to find ways to slip through the wind more efficiently. Although the P4 appears likely to become the extinct predecessor of the lionized P5, this will not affect its capacity to deliver new revelations in the Race of Truth. An excellent and increasingly rare opportunity to obtain a Cervelo classic.
