Frame and Wheel 2012 annual report

Fred Thomas
President
Frame and Wheel, Inc.

Dear Frame and Wheel customers,

I am pleased to report that 2012 has been another year of growth for Frame and Wheel. Rated transactions increased 300 percent to 553 transactions. The feedback score was unchanged at 100% positive with many customers describing Frame and Wheel as “the best on ebay”,  an “expert seller” and "trustworthy and honest". Domestic and international demand for bicycles, frame sets, wheels and components remained strong due to the consumer’s growing confidence with shopping on-line, eBay's safe and regulated marketplace and its promise of excellent value. The order book was full all year as a result of word of mouth recommendations about the service and references from independent bicycle dealers.

Meanwhile, the relaunch of the Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 frame sets was a success with inventory being sold out to international and out of state domestic buyers. I raced an Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 to victory at the Tour of the Catskills and Quabbin Road Race Classic and rode an Austro-Daimler tt Carbon to win the Maine Time Trial Series. Paul Weiss rode an Austro-Daimler Ubercross through out New England. Landmark transactions for the year include the sale of a 1984 Alex Mouton AM7 for the Community Bicycle Center to a buyer in Japan, the sale and shipping of an eighty pound Ultramotor A2B electric bike to a buyer in New Jersey, and the sale and shipping of Racermate Computrainer training system to a buyer in Virginia.

Frame and Wheel continues to differentiate itself from the competition by originating accurate and comprehensive descriptions, producing compelling and relevant images, shipping quickly, and providing professional and human customer service. Frame and Wheel also uses newly manufactured custom made boxes for shipping high value frame sets and wheels. Frame and Wheel continues to use social media to promote the service and the auctions. At the end of 2012, Frame and Wheel had 5,300 “likes” on its Frame and Wheel Facebook page and 29 followers on its Twitter feed.

Frame and Wheel has become more efficient at originating listings and packing items and was able to shorten its turnaround time significantly this year. Consequently, Frame and Wheel is pleased to announce that it will be able to lower its commission to 15 percent from 20 percent previously effective 1 January 2013. Additionally, Frame and Wheel will offer a factoring service to customers who seek to liquidate quickly items in bulk. Frame and Wheel will also offer a “Buyer of Last Resort” service for items that do not sell at auction. Please see the “For Sellers” section for more information about these programs.

Frame and Wheel will be launching the champagne version of the Austro-Daimler Superleicht Carbon Di2 Carbon and the Austro-Daimler tt Carbon soon. An Austro-Daimler Ubercross Carbon Disc cyclocross frame set is set for introduction in late 2013. The market remembers the brand and interest is strong. Frame and Wheel will continue to promote its services and products through racing and training, face to face contact with customers, email marketing and social media. Thank you to buyers and sellers who have used the service and I look forward to working with you in 2013.

Sincerely,

Fred Thomas

Sold: $1,000 Buyer: Australia
2009 SRM Wireless PowerMeter FSA Gossamer standard crank set 53T/39T 172.5mm road
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a wireless SRM PowerMeter FSA Gossamer crank set on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The power meter crank set was purchased new and has had only one owner. It was mounted on a time trial bike and used for triathlon and training. It was parted out in 2012. The crank set is being sold because it is no longer needed. The PowerMeter crank set features FSA Gossamer alloy crank arms, FSA 53T / 39T chain rings, FSA GXP Mega Exo bottom bracket compatibility, ANT + wireless protocol, new batteries, and newly serviced calibration. The power meter crank set was sent to SRM USA for servicing and testing in November 2012. The batteries in the crank set are new and the crank set calibration was tested with a PowerControl. The power meter crank set as shown weighs 972 g. The serial number on the back of the crank set reads PM:19634. SRM USA testing and servicing paperwork included.  Requires FSA GXP bottom bracket cup set. PowerMeter crank set only in this offering! PowerControl unit, bottom bracket, SRM software, heart rate monitor strap, magnet, sensor, charger, mount USB not included. There are 25 images of the crank set on the Frame and Wheel Flickr page. Please take a look.

Important information
There is a $75.00 Product Analysis and Service (PAAS) charge included in the shipping for this item. For more information about the PAAS and other Frame and Wheel shipping and return policies, please see section at the end of the item description. Please visit the Frame and Wheel website for more information about the service and the company. Thank you.

Important information
The $125.00 cost of having the crank set sent to, inspected, tested and serviced by SRM USA is paid for by the buyer and included in the shipping. The crank set was sent to SRM USA in November 2012. Please see below for summary of servicing.

Review of condition
The power meter crank set is in good condition. It is clean and ready for installation and use. The chain rings are not bent and the teeth are not chipped or broken. The chain ring bolts are not stripped or corroded or locked into place. The pedal thread bolts are not stripped. None of the chain ring bolts are missing. The splines on the spindle are not rounded off. There is no wear on the crank arms. The crank set was returned to SRM USA for servicing and inspection in November 2012. SRM USA did the following: 1) Disassemble power meter, chainrings and crank arms. Clean and check reed switches, solder pad, coil, wires and lid. Load firmware, solder new batteries, test current and zero offset. Reassemble power meter with chain rings and crank arms. Calibration, test with PowerControl. SRM concluded that zero offset, power and cadence were OK. 2) Provide new slope=28.2/Nm. Frame and Wheel notes the following. The chain ring teeth show wear. There is light surface corrosion on the surface of the outer chain ring.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this SRM PowerMeter FSA Gossamer crank set will make an excellent choice for the dedicated cyclist or triathlete who seeks to train and race with a power meter and who is already in possession of a SRM PowerControl unit or ANT + enabled device such as a Garmin Edge 500. The power meter crank set is in good condition and ready to return to the road. This crank set is just back from servicing and testing at SRM USA and is ready to measure watts with ruthless accuracy. The new owner’s cycling performance will ultimately benefit from the reams of data made available by this tool, despite the almost certain disillusionment that will follow on the first 20 minute threshold power test. A great opportunity to obtain an instrument that has become ubiquitous in competitive cycling.
