2006 Colnago Strada SC 58s alloy/carbon frame Campagnolo Chorus 10-spd Fulcrum Racing 7 clincher wheels
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 2006 Colnago Strada SC on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The bicycle was purchased new in Austin, Texas in 2009. It was used for training and recreation. It has never been crashed. It has had only one owner. The bike has always been stored indoors and professionally maintained at Gorham Bike and Ski in Portland, Maine. The bicycle had its annual servicing and tuning last month. The cassette, chain and cables are new. The bike has been lightly used in 2012. The frame set features curved “wishbone” carbon seat stays, Colnago Star Carbon front fork, oversized tubes made with 7000-T6 aluminum-scandium alloy and a new carbon FSA SL-K carbon seat post. The bicycle features 2006 Campagnolo Chorus crank set, square-taper bottom bracket, rear derailleur and front derailleur, 2006 Ergopower 10-speed shifters, Campagnolo Centaur brakes, Campagnolo Fulcrum Racing 7 wheels, a new Ritchey 4Axis WCS alloy stem, Deda Elementi Piega alloy handle bars and a new Most Leopard saddle. The owner is selling the bicycle because he recently purchased a new bike and no longer rides this one. The owner is 6 feet 2 inches tall with an inseam of about 33 inches. The stand over is about 83 cm. The serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket reads H6F08099 HA0056. The serial number on the steer tube reads 4E366NVP. Review of condition
The bicycle is very good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is precise and complete in all twenty gears. The brakes activate easily and grip well. There is 2 mm of pad remaining on the wear indicators. There are no dents or bends that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. There is no flaking, flexing or discoloration that raises concerns about the structural integrity of the carbon seat stay or carbon front fork. The rear triangle is in alignment with the centerline of the frame. The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The cable stops are mounted securely and are not bent. The steer tube does not show any cracks or bulges. The crown race is secured firmly. The head set is complete and the cartridge bearings turn smoothly. There is no play in the bottom bracket. There is no corrosion in the stem bolts, the seat collar bolt or the water bottle cage bolts. The cable housing is not cracking and the cables are not corroded. The handlebars are not bent. The chain does not read 0.75 or 1.0 on the chain wear tool. The wheels are true and round and they spin freely and smoothly. The flanges are not cracked. The splines in the free hub body are not damaged. The spokes are straight and tight. The tires are new and holding pressure.
Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 5 mm x 50 mm scratch on the bottom of the down tube near the bottom bracket from cable rub. There is a 5 mm x 20 mm scratch on the bottom of the down tube near it from cable rub. There is a 5 mm x 10 mm bubbling in the finish at the bottom of the down tube near the bottom bracket. There is a 5 mm x 5 mm scratch on the drive side top tube near the Colnago lettering. There is a 2 mm x 2 mm scratch near by. There is a 1 mm x 5 mm scratch in drive side top tube near the “S” in Scandium. There is a 10 mm x 40 mm area of scratches on the drive side chain stay from the chain. There is a 5 mm x 5 mm scratch on the non drive side seat tube near the “C” in Colnago. There is a smaller scratch near to it. There are two 1 mm x 3 mm scratches on the top of the down tube near the second “O” in Colnago. There is a 5 mm x 5 mm scratch on the end of the drive side chain stay near the drop outs. There is wear around the front and rear drop outs. There is wear on the sides of the head tube from cable rub. There is road wear under the crown of the front fork. There is road wear under the rear brake bridge. There is bubbling in the finish around the water bottle cage bolt holes on the down tube. The braking surfaces of the wheels show wear. The rear tire has a bulge and should be replaced. There are marks on the non drive side chain stay from a road computer sensor. The handle bar tape shows wear.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Colnago Strada SC is the perfect bike for the large and powerful cyclist who appreciates the design and ride features of Colnago carbon / aluminum frame sets, the smoothness of Campagnolo Ergopower 10-speed shifting and the practicality of Fulcrum Racing 7 clincher alloy wheels. The bike is stiff and durable and the NS03 finish is pleasing to the eye. Despite a few imperfections in the finish, the bicycle is in very good condition and it still has many hours of training and riding left in its aluminum alloy and carbon tubes. Given that the Strada SC frame set is no longer in production, and because of the pre-2007 Campagnolo components that are on it, this bicycle has a strong and growing classic Italian voice that the new owner will enjoy and Colnago aficionados will envy.
