2007 Felt F1C 50cm carbon road Dura-Ace 7900 Mavic Cosmic Elite Reynolds fork Ritchey bars road
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Felt F1C bicycle on the Frame and Wheel ebay Store. The owner purchased the bicycle new in 2007. It was used for racing and training for three seasons. The owner switched out the stock components, fork and wheels and replaced them with Dura-Ace 7900 components, a Reynolds Ouzo Pro fork, a FSA SLK crank set and Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels. The bicycle has had only one owner. It has never been crashed. It has been in storage. The owner is selling the bicycle because it is no longer used. The owner is 5 foot 8 inches with an inseam of about 31 inches. The frame set features Reynolds Ouzo Pro carbon front fork, Ritchey Carbon WCS seat post, English thread bottom bracket, integrated head set, semi-matte clear finish, light weight and Felt F1 series design. The bicycle features Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 front and rear derailleurs, FSA SLK crank set (53T/39T chain rings and 170 mm crank arms), Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 brake set, Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 dual control shifters, Ritchey Pro Evocurve alloy handle bars (40 cm c-c), Zipp Service Course SL stem, Devox seat, and Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels with Hutchinson and Vittoria tires. The bicycle as shown weighs 15 pounds 7 ounces (7.0 kg). The serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket reads F1C/FCMH0173. Stand over is 73.0 cm. Bottle cages included. Pedals not included. There are 240 detailed images of the bicycle at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please take a look.

The bicycle is in good condition. It is clean and ready to ride. The shifting is complete in all twenty gears. The brakes activate easily and grip well. There is 5 mm of brake pad. The brake cable housing is not cracked. The hubs spin smoothly and freely. The spokes are tight and straight. The rims are round. The rear wheel shows less than 1 mm of horizontal variation when placed in the truing stand. The front wheel shows no lateral variation when placed in a truing stand. There are no dents in the alloy rims. There are no cracks in the hub bodies. There are no cracks in the flanges of the hubs. There is no corrosion on the hubs, the spokes or the skewers. The skewers are straight and complete. The tires hold pressure.

There is no road wear on the bottom of the down tube or on the back of the seat tube. There is no cracking, discoloration, bulging, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. The rear triangle is in alignment with the centerline of the frame to within 3.0 mm (the width of two pennies). The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front derailleur hanger is undamaged and secured firmly. There is no cracking, bulging or flexing that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the front fork. The steer tube does not show any cracks or bulges. The crown race is secured firmly. There is no play in the bottom bracket. The water bottle cage bolts are not stripped. The handlebar is not bent. Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Felt F1C will make an excellent choice for the cyclist who seeks to upgrade to a light and practical full carbon road bike. Although the bicycle shows signs of light wear, it is nevertheless in good condition with many hours of racing and training remaining in its carbon tubes and alloy rims. The new owner will appreciate the smooth shifting and braking of the Dura-Ace 7900 group set, the versatility of the Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels and the voice of the bicycle that speaks plainly and clearly of performance. An excellent opportunity to obtain a fine full carbon road bicycle.

Sold: $520  Buyer: Canada
2008 Zipp 404 carbon tubular 18/24 spoke 82/182 hub Ti skewer 10spd 700c pair
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Zipp 404 wheel set on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The wheels were purchased new in 2008. They have had only one owner. They were used for racing and fast training. They have less than 1000 miles of use. They were never crashed. They were last used during the summer of 2012. They have been in storage since then. The owner is selling the wheel set because it is no longer being used. The wheels feature carbon tubular rims, ABLC (Aerodynamic Boundary Layer Control) dimpled carbon rim wall, Zipp 82 front hub and Zipp 182 rear hub, bladed Sapim steel spokes, 58 mm rim depth, 20 mm rim width, 18 (F) / 24 (R) spoke count, Zipp titanium skewers and Zipp 404 iconic cool. The wheels as shown weigh 2 pounds 14 ounces (1.3 kg). There are 60 images of the wheel set at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please take a look.

Review of condition
The wheels are in good condition. They are clean and they are ready to ride. The hubs spin smoothly and freely. The spokes are tight and straight. The rims are round and the wheels are true. There is no lateral or vertical variation in the rims when placed in a truing stand. There are no cracks, flexing, flaking or discoloration in the carbon rim or the carbon shell. There are no cracks in the carbon dust caps. There are no cracks in the hub bodies. There is no play in the hubs. There are no cracks in the flanges of the hubs. There is no corrosion on the hubs or the spokes. The skewers are straight and complete. There is no corrosion on the skewers. The stickers are not peeling off. Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 6 mm x 8 mm chip on the edge of the rear drive side rim. There are notches on the free hub body from a cassette. There is a 3 mm x 6 mm scratch on one of the rear non drive side Zipp stickers. There is an imperfection in the finish of the edge of the front rim. There is a light layer of glue on the rims. The braking surfaces of the rim show light wear.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that these Zipp 404 wheels will make an excellent choice for the road cyclist who seeks a versatile set of tubular wheels for racing and training. Although the hubs and the rims represent Zipp’s previous generation technology, the  wheels are lightly used and in good condition with many hours of racing and training remaining in their carbon rims. These wheels will immediately transform the look, feel and performance of any road or time trial bicycle and can be made to go as fast as their wider and more glamourous Zipp Firecrest cousins. The new owner will relish the fast and smooth ride characteristics of these deep dish wheels and perhaps may never return to clincher rims. An excellent opportunity to obtain an iconic set of Zipp wheels.

Frame and Wheel interim report to clients and customers

Dear Frame and Wheel customers,
I am pleased to report that the first half of 2013 went very well for Frame and Wheel. Rated transactions increased about 50% year on year to 664 in June 2013 due to repeat and new business from local and regional sellers and strong demand from domestic and international buyers. California, Washington, Texas, New Jersey and North Carolina continue to represent the key domestic markets and England, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Thailand and Singapore continue to represent the most active international markets. Frame and Wheel’s positive feedback score was unchanged at 100% due to a concentrated effort to provide comprehensive descriptions, compelling images, accurate ratings and fast shipping. Featured transactions during the first half include Zipp wheels (900 Clincher discs, 808s and 404s), HED wheels (H3s), classic wheels (Mavic 3G, Spinergy and Specialized Tri-Spoke), a Quintana Roo CD0.1 with Reynolds wheels, a Cervelo P2C with Zipp 303 wheels, an SRM Power Meter training system, a Parlee TT time trial frame set and a Pashley Tube Rider. There have been misunderstandings, disappointments and mistakes along the way, but I have resolved them amicably and decisively. Unpaid item claims were a problem during the period due to the increased number of auctions and the Frame and Wheel eBay Store’s increased visibility on eBay listings. I recently tightened buyer feedback score requirements in order to attract only serious buyers and thus reduce unpaid item claims. Elsewhere, Ebay increased the final value fee on individual auctions to 10 percent (Previous: 9.0%) on 1 May 2013. Ebay also increased the final value fee structure for ebay stores. Consequently, Frame and Wheel has revised its commission structure (Please see table below). To off set the impact of these revisions, Frame and Wheel eBay Store listing fees and Facebook / Twitter advertising fees have been eliminated and are now provided free of charge.

Meanwhile, I have produced numerous images of bicycles, framesets, wheels and components over the past twelve months and have made them available for viewing and purchase on the Frame and Wheel Zenfolio page. A coffee table book that included all the great shots for the year is in the works. I would like to thank all of Frame and Wheel’s clients and customers for their business and I look forward to working with you during the second half of 2013.

Sincerely,

Fred Thomas
