Scott CR1 54 cm frame Addict R1 fork carbon Mavic neutral support yellow road
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a Scott CR1 Mavic Neutral Support frame set on the Frame and Wheel ebay Store. The owner purchased the frame set second hand from an individual in 2010. The owner built up the frame and used it for racing and training in 2011. The components were switched out at the end of the 2011 season. The frame and fork has been in storage since then. The current owner has never crashed the frame. It has always been stored indoors. The owner is selling the frame because it is too big for him and he no longer needs it. The frame set features Scott Addict R1 front fork, oversized top tube and down tube, braze-on front derailleur hanger, zero stack head set, light weight and distinctive Mavic Yellow finish. The frame set as shown weighs 3 pounds 1 ounce (1.4 kg). The Mavic serial number on the bottom bracket read 0953. The serial number on the front fork reads ST02K10006120012. The current owner is 5’ 5” with an inseam of 29 inches. Please see 80 additional images of the frame set at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please see the Frame and Wheel website for more information about the service.

Review of condition
The frame set is in good condition. It is clean and ready for build. There are no cracks, bulges, discolorations, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the frame. The rear triangle is in alignment with the the centerline of the frame to within 2.0 mm (the width of a nickel). The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The cable stops are riveted securely and clear of obstructions. There is no corrosion in the water bottle bolt holes. The bottom bracket shell is not damaged. The threads in the bottom bracket are not stripped or corroded. There are no cracks, bulges, discoloration, flexing or flaking that raise concerns about the structural integrity of the front fork. The crown race is securely fixed to the front fork. The crown race is not pitted or corroded. The headset cartridge bearings turn smoothly and the headset is complete. The stickers are not peeling.

Frame and Wheel notes the following: There is a 10 mm x 20 mm abrasion on the inside non drive side chain stay from a tire. There is a 20 mm x 15 mm abrasion on the underside of the brake bridge from road grit. There is a 30 mm x 10 mm abrasion on the drive side head tube from a cable. There is a 5 mm x 10 mm chip in the finish on the edge of the non drive side bottom bracket. There are abrasions and scratches between 1 mm and 20 mm on the top tube, the down tube, the chain stays and the seat stays. There is wear around the drop outs. There is wear around the cable stops. There is wear on the front derailleur hanger. There is road wear under the front fork crown.

Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Scott CR1 will suit the road enthusiast who seeks to upgrade to a practical and light carbon frame, and who is not too picky about cosmetics. The frame set shows signs of wear and presumably has spent some time on the roof of a Mavic neutral support vehicle and in the Mavic shop before joining the previous and current owner. Nevertheless, the frame set is in good condition and ready to return to the road. The new owner will notice the frame’s light weight and will most likely be the only rider in the group on a yellow frame set, unless of course, Bradley Wiggins is on the ride too. A great opportunity to obtain a unique frame set at an attractive valuation.

It was built up and used for training in 2011. The parts were switched out at the end of the season and the frame set was placed in storage. The frame set has never been crashed. It has had only one owner. The frame set features Columbus Tusk Light front fork, aluminum alloy construction, sloping geometry, ovalized top tube and down tube, replaceable rear derailleur hanger and integrated head set. The owner is selling the frame because he has switched out the parts to another bike and he no longer needs the frame set. The owner is 5’ 5” with an inseam of 29 inches. Please see 80 additional images of the frame set at Frame and Wheel’s Flickr page. Please see the Frame and Wheel website for more information about the service.

Review of condition
The frame set is in good condition. It is clean and ready for build. There is no road wear on the bottom of the down tube, the back of the seat tube or the inside of the chain stays. The derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The cable stops are undamaged and free of obstructions. The barrel adjusters work properly. The bottom bracket is not damaged.

Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a bend in the drive side seat stay. Consequently, the rear triangle is right of center by about 3.0 mm (the width of two pennies). There is a 5 mm x 20 mm abrasion on the right and left side of the head tube from a cable. There is a 3 mm x 40 mm abrasion on the top tube near the Zing lettering. There is a 1 mm x 70 mm area of scratching on the bottom of the drive side chain stay. There is a 3 mm x 10 mm scratch on the inside left blade of the front fork. Frame and Wheel conclusion
Frame and Wheel’s view is that this Kona Zing frame set will suit the smaller sized adult cyclist who seeks something practical and durable for off season training or commuting.  It could also make an excellent choice for the youth or junior cyclist who is ready for a real road bike. Although the frame alignment gauge shows that the rear triangle is right of center, the misalignment is not great enough to affect the shifting, tracking or the removal of the rear wheel. Frame and Wheel notes that the rear drop outs line up properly and highlights that the current owner reports that he had no shifting, tracking or wheel removal problems with this frame set. The frame set is lightly used and ready to provide many more hours of riding. The new owner will relish the smooth ride provided by the beefy Columbus Tusk Light fork and the excellent value at which the frame set was obtained.
