1990 Bianchi Reparto Corse 59 cm classic steel road bike Campagnolo 8-speed

Sold: $320
1990 Bianchi Reparto Corse 59 cm classic steel road bike Campagnolo 8-speed
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a 1990 Bianchi Reparto Corse 59 cm steel road bicycle on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The owner purchased the bicycle new at a bicycle store in Kittery, Maine in 1992. It was used for racing and training for five years and eventually as a winter training bicycle. It has been in storage in a basement for the past ten years. The owner is selling the bicycle because he no longer uses it and he is clearing out his basement of old cycling equipment. The original front fork was destroyed in a crash and replaced with a Kestrel Carbon composite fork. The bicycle features  internal cabling on the top tube for the rear brake and internal cabling in the drive-side chain stay for the rear derailleur, two water bottle cage mounts, a mount for a pump under the top tube, chrome finish on the chain stays, painted lettering on top, down and seat tubes, crafted lugs, “Bianchi” engraved lugs, bottom bracket shell and brake bolt stay, new OEM seat post, 1994 Campagnolo C-Record crank set, 1994 Campagnolo Record brakes, Campagnolo early 1990s ErgoPower dual brake shifters, Speedplay pedals, foamy Celeste finish and  “Made in Italy” provenance. The bicycle as shown weighs 21 pounds 10 ounces. The serial number reads 59c650 or 59c850. There are 80 images of the item at Frame and Wheel Auction Services Please take a look.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in fair condition. It is clean, it shifts properly through all the gears, the brakes work, the wheels are round and turning, the seat post is not frozen, and there is no play in the bottom bracket. Frame and Wheel notes the following: There are stress marks and a slight bulge (on the bottom of the down tube) at the junction of the head tube and the down tube most likely from a crash that destroyed the original front fork. The bolt on the non drive-side pedal is stripped and thus it is very difficult to remove the pedal from the crank arm. There is corrosion in the following locations: the bottom of the down tube, the chain stays, the brakes, the barrel adjusters, the rear derailleur inner cage plate, the chain, the spoke nipples, under the top tube and in bolt holes. There are scratches in the finish on the head tube, around the bottom bracket shell and in areas on the top tube. The bearings in the front wheel feel rough and the rear wheel is a bit out of true. The saddle shows heavy abrasions on the right and rear edges. The brake and derailleur cables are worn and corroded and need to be replaced. The chain reads 1.0 on the chain wear tool.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
This is an early 90s Bianchi road bike that has had a full life of elite racing and training in New England and thus shows signs of wear. Nevertheless, the bicycle still posses a classic Italian voice and catches the eye with its distinctive Celeste finish, traditional lines and simple graphics. This bicycle will suit the Bianchi aficionado who collects and restores older frames or the Campagnolo collector who seeks parts. The bicycle might have a future as a fixed gear bicycle or perhaps as a longer term restoration project. Frame and Wheel believes that despite the wear and tear, this bicycle either in parts or as a whole,  will bring great satisfaction to someone who appreciates classic Bianchis and steel frame road bikes. The new owner will also be satisfied with obtaining this bicycle at an attractive valuation.

Sold: $430
Vintage 1989 Trek 660 47 cm steel road bike 6-speed Campagnolo Nuovo Record Modolo Maillard wheel set
Frame and Wheel is auctioning a vintage 1989 Trek 660 47 cm steel road bike on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store. The frame and fork was purchased new at International Bikes in Boston in 1990. The owner switched all the parts and the wheel set from his 1985 Trek 660 to this frame (the Trek 660 frame and fork is also on auction on the Frame and Wheel eBay Store). The owner rode the bicycle recreationally for a short time and then placed it in storage in a dry basement, where it has been for more than fifteen years. The owner is selling the bicycle because he no longer rides it and would like to use the proceeds to upgrade his existing bicycle. The bicycle has never been crashed. It is has always been stored in indoors in a dry location. The bicycle features True Temper Chromoly steel tubing, the second generation Trek head tube badge, crafted and engraved lugs, adjustable rear dropouts, internal cabling through drive-side chain stay for rear derailleur, Shimano 600 Ultegra chain guard, chain Campagnolo Nuovo Record rear and front derailleur, Campagnolo Strada crank set, Modolo Speedy dual pivot cantilever brakes and levers and Matrix Titan rims with Maillard 700 Professional Team Issue hubs. The bicycle as shown weighs 20 pounds 5 ounces. The serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket shell reads 402170. Pedals are not included. Water bottle cage included. There are 80 images of the item at Frame and Wheel Auction Services Please take a look.
Review of condition
The bicycle is in very good condition and it is ready to ride. It is clean and shows very few signs of wear or tear. There are no dents, bulges or bends in the tubes or the bars. There is no corrosion anywhere on the bicycle. There are no bubbles in the finish of the frame. There is no wear on the underside of the down tube or on the back of the seat tube, under the crown of the front fork or around the chain stays. The rear drop outs are aligned with the center line of the frame. The rear derailleur hanger is straight and undamaged. The front forks are not bent and the drop out faces are parallel to each other. There is no play in the bottom bracket and the chain rings are not worn. The headset turns smoothly and there is no play. There are no cracks in the cables and the shifting is smooth and complete. The brakes work properly and there is 10 mm of brake pad. The wheels are round and true and spinning smoothly and the pawls are not loud. The spokes are tight and straight. The braking surfaces of the rims show no wear. The treads of the tires are not cracked and the tires hold pressure. The handlebar tape is fresh. The chain does not read 0.75 on the chain wear indicator. Frame and Wheel notes the following. There is a 2 x 3 mm scratch on the “E” in Trek on the non-drive side down tube. There is wear on the sides of the seat. There is wear on the lower portion of the stem post.   Frame and Wheel carefully and in good faith inspected this item, but cannot guarantee that every imperfection has been spotted.
Frame and Wheel conclusion
This is a classic Trek bicycle that is in very good condition. It will suit the smaller rider who prefers the zen of down tube shifting and the smooth ride of steel frames. It will also appeal to the collector of vintage Trek bicycle frames and Campagnolo components. It has an unusual provenance and will make an exciting restoration project for the aficionado who seeks to restore the components on this bicycle to the original 1985 660 frame set, which is also being auctioned. The truly dedicated purist could then search the world for Shimano 600 Ultergra components and build up the True Temper frame to its original factory specifications. Alternatively, the new owner can appreciate the bicycle in its current form and consider it a unique addition to a vintage bicycle collection. This is a rare and excellent opportunity to obtain a classic Trek bicycle at an excellent valuation.
